HIV Counseling & Testing

This service provision is an ancillary program that compliments all other clinical services. Clients are required to have at least 1 session with a HIV counselor, however HIV testing is voluntary. All counseling and testing sessions are strictly confidential. HIV counseling uses a client-centered approach that encourages risk and harm reduction objectives. Clients are educated on HIV history, transmission and prevention as well as Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. They are also shown how to develop a risk reduction plan, which is incorporated into their treatment plan. This service provision also has HIV impacted support groups that focus on living with HIV.
